Mid-West Set To Retain Champion Trophy In The Cricket Premier League



The defending champion of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association {SLCA} Mid-West CC on Saturday registered a vital victory against their arch rivals Police CC at the POW School field with 1 wicket. Mid-West won the toss and allows Police to bat first. 


The Mid-West players gave tight fielding to the Police batmen squeezing them to score only 112 runs in 19.1 overs. The Mid-West bowlers gave out 31 extra runs with Bakarr making the highest runs [23] for Police and James Kamanoh with 10 runs.


In the bowling for Mid-West Edward Ngegba the spin bowler took 3 wickets with the rest taking one each. Mid-West took the inning with aggressive batting to chase the 112 runs. In the Mid-West batting Afred Charlie scored 27 runs, Yegbeh Jalloh 16 runs, with the Police bowlers giving out 27 extra runs. Four balls to the end of the inning Mid-West were looking for 4 runs to win the match when Ismeal Komba batted a full toss bowled by Jacob Mansaray over the boundary for six runs bringing the total runs to 114 lost of 9 wickets.

Before the end of the match, the match was stopped for a while with Police complaining for bad officiating. The umpires went out as the Police captain said they can’t continue with the game in that manner. The match continued after some minutes with the order from the league coordinator Cyril Panda.  The captain of Mid-West Lasana Lamin told SALONE TIMES Sports that they are close to retain the champion trophy after defeating Police. He went on that they defeated Police in the absent of their leading batsman Olu Compagne- Coker whom he said will be available for the return leg. They have won all their matches played this said they want to maintain the wining spirit in the remaining matches. The defending Champion lost two vital players Abass Gbla and Samuel Coker to the RSLAF CC this season but still maintain the wining spirit. The two teams will meet back on the 12th December 2016 at the POW field, Kingtom, Freetown.
