World Road Traffic Victims Day Commemorated By SLRSA

The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, on Monday 14th November 2016 commenced a week-long commemoration of World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on the theme; “Vital Post-Crash Action: Medical Care, Investigation, Justice!” The ceremony took place at the Miatta Conference Hall, Youyi Building, Brookfields in Freetown. The World Day of Remembrance of Road Traffic Victim is set aside by the United Nations to remember those who have died and incapacitated through road accidents. SLRSA Human Resources Director, Joseph O. Dauda, who chaired the ceremony, stated that road accidents are a global concern as they affect everyone leaving sad memories adding, “road accidents are so crucial as many victims have lost their lives while others have become incapacitated.” Joseph O. No Need To Increase Tariff… EDSA Will Recover 80% Revenue If

By Ibrahim Joenal Sesay As the Ministry of Energy terminates PEC-Sierra Leone contract, officials of PEC on Monday 14 th November 2016 at the headquarters of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Campbell Street in Freetown, informed the media that PEC-SL from January to October this year generated over Le7.7 billion as revenue for the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) and described the termination of the contract as unfair and uncalled for. The Chief Executive Officer of PEC-Sierra Leone Limited, Malador Sowe said if PEC-SL installs 80% of their meters in the city, EDSA will recover over 80% of their revenue and that there is no need for them to increase tariff. Under APC… Salone Democracy Threatened

By Ibrahim Joenal Sesay One of the flag bearers of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Andrew Karmoh Keili has expressed apprehension over the upkeep of democracy in Sierra Leone under the leadership of the All People’s Congress (APC). Andrew Karmoh Keili who is an Engineer with over 39 years in active service, working from the North, East, South and West of Sierra Leone both in the private sector and corporate governance serving as chairman of several establishments said the way things are going in the country shows that the APC led government has lost control of the country. Andrew Karmoh Keilli was speaking in Philadelphia, a State in the United States of America at the SLPP North America Branch Annual Convention recently when he represented the Alliance for All Aspirants of the SLPP (AAA). “I have drawn several policies about governance and mining for this country. I eat and drink policy. Our natural resources have been sold for pittance,” he said.

TRACE: When a Government Loses Control

By Ibrahim Joenal Sesay Hi folks, how are things doing? Well, TRACE knows this isn’t the type of question citizens want respond to anyhow! But it makes sense to at least give an answer to it. This is so because TRACE is one of few citizens wanting to see Sierra Leone; a country once flowing with milk and honey, move up and on unrestrained. Hmmmm... and as TRACE was driving passed Congo Cross few days ago, there was this Traffic Light he used to call “blink, blink”  surprisingly in operation. Even though a surprise, he was quick to give kudos to government and no doubt said to friend aside him: “that’s how it should be en!” But you know what? TRACE unlike country’s politicians, who certainly may not want him say his opinion to oddities observed, was concerned with the timing of the now working ‘street light’- he means time adjustment of the GREEN (or Go signal), YELLOW (or ready to Go or Stop alert signal) and of course the RED (or Stop signal) respectively.
