Under APC… Salone Democracy Threatened
By Ibrahim Joenal Sesay
One of the flag bearers of the Sierra Leone People’s
Party (SLPP) Andrew Karmoh Keili has expressed apprehension over the upkeep of
democracy in Sierra Leone under the leadership of the All People’s Congress
(APC).
Andrew Karmoh Keili who is an Engineer with over 39 years
in active service, working from the North, East, South and West of Sierra Leone
both in the private sector and corporate governance serving as chairman of
several establishments said the way things are going in the country shows that
the APC led government has lost control of the country.
Andrew Karmoh Keilli was speaking in Philadelphia, a
State in the United States of America at the SLPP North America Branch Annual
Convention recently when he represented the Alliance for All Aspirants of the
SLPP (AAA).
“I have drawn several policies about governance and
mining for this country. I eat and drink policy. Our natural resources have
been sold for pittance,” he said.
He went on to state that one of the two most important
problems in the country which is youth unemployment can’t be addressed by the
government and that, he said he was going to fight tooth and for the future of
this country because every day he gets application from the youth even though
many of them are not qualified.
“APC is leaching at out our hard won democracy. Every day
it is as if the rule of law doesn’t exist. SLPP’s case is dragging. When you go
to the police they take sides.”
Andrew Karmoh Keilli stressed that the people of this
country deserve to live a better life just from the natural resources God gave
them but mismanagement by the APC is causing more harm than good for the
people.
He pointed out that the only option APC has now is to use
the state resources at their disposals to campaign in the upcoming election and
also ready to use the police and the judiciary against any opponent.
He also warned SLPP members to be aware as the current
government is ready to come in between them as a way of dividing them with
monetary inducements.
