Marking 10 Years Anniversary… Proprietor Of Providence International High Spells Out Successes

In marking their tenth year anniversary, the Founder and Proprietor of providence International High School Joseph Bangura has expressed optimism of more goodies for the school after he spelled out some of their successes.

He was speaking to TRACE NEWS at the School’s campus past Friday. The school he said started with the help of some parents whose children were attending syndicate classes. He said that was the only syndicate at that time organizing external examinations for its pupil.
After five years from that success, the parents decided that it was wise to have a school but he said it was not easy at that time because he was not financially strong but God who is always on his side did it for him and made a way out.
On the 8th of February 2007 the school’s foundation was laid. Parents were really cooperating towards the funding of the school building. The school he went on started with 203 students, ranging from Junior Secondary School to Senior Secondary School.
Mr. Bangura added that the first thirty students from Providence International High School to sit for the West Africa Examination and the Basic Secondary School Examination were very much impressive as the result spoke for itself and that really boasted up their effort.
Aggregate ten was their first best result and the least was aggregate 28, the following year they sent  43 students and they performed really well with best result of aggregated 7 and the least was aggregate 25. The first West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination candidates from Providence International School made their names too as the junior students have proved that the school is a good school. He can now boast that his school can compete with other schools.

The school has a good learning environment, a good laboratory, and library and computer room. They also print out books for their students, books used for assignments and for their daily exercises.  From some of his foreign partners he has been trying to work out scholarships for his final year students into universities as a way of appreciating parent’s efforts. The only challenge they are facing right now is the problem of parents not monitoring their kid’s academics. The school teachers have taken it upon themselves to conduct a revision class for every topic done, to see if really the students have understood what they have been taught and that will give them chance to voice out their problems they face during studies.  Using this method they have really seen that its working and their grades have improved, it’s not always about the money he thinks that parents should be monitoring student’s school works but some do not care. ‘At times when parents are called upon not all will show up, some will give excuses but we are trying out best and we are also constructing  a boarding home as part of our project for 2017 and a dream of expanding around the country’ he complained.

The 8th of February will be their foundation day and they will call on different people from all walks of life to give moral advice to their students on the path of career they will want to take up. We will also bring in ex-students of the school to join in the celebration. It will also be good for them to mingle with their junior ones and give them a piece of advice. More events will be going on but the principal will give in more details about the tenth year celebrations but it’s a blessing and we thank God for this success, he concluded.
