The MD went on to say the unique thing about the award is not the Best Mobile Initiative, Application or Programmein Sierra Leone but one that covered the West Africa region.
He said the award promote Sierra Leone in the West Africa region and not the promotion of GTBank within their local environment (Sierra Leone) only.
The award ceremony took place last week in Nigeria and GTBank Sierra Leone representatives were present.
“We are very excited about the award and we believe it is a testimony about our relevance, hard work and the quality of our products.”
He added that most of GTBank products they designed it with their customers in mind, what do they want, how can they, assist, promote and make their lives easy.
The Asia started as a Financial Publisher in Asia but currently their focus they try to assess the retail performance close to 40 countries across the world. In West African they actually assessed the performance of about 12 to 15 countries. They look at data from financial institution within a country.
They took data from financial institutions in Sierra Leone, which was independently collected and the award was given to the GTBankbased on their strength and the uniqueness of their product among others.
The MD further stated that there are lots of mobile banking solutions but lots of them depend on internet availability.
“The uniqueness of GT-SIMPAY is this, without internet you can do your transaction. From my phone, I can check my balance; I can move money from my account to another account within GTBank and in another bank. I can buy airtime from my phone. GT-Simpay makes life easy for all our customers because they don’t have to come to the banking hall.”
He added that when they are designing their products one of the thingsthey try to achieve is the congestion of the banking hall as customers only come to the banking hall asking fortheir balance.
“In the future, we have a lot of capability that we are looking at, like you can confirm your cheque through GT-Simpay, the E-Cheque, even for people that don’t have Bank Account would be able to use the E-Cheque. You will be able to open account on your phone, doing banking by social media like whatsapp.”
According to the MD, GT-Simpay has lot of feature and they are working harder to ensure that they improve the product.
He said for them, it is a testimony that they are in the right direction and what they are doing is right and it give them the initiative for them to do more because it is a boost for the staff.
“It is an award that we are proud of and we deserved. We also have our customers to thanked, if they did not embrace the product, we would not have won these awards.”
The award looks at unique feature and the penetrations in the market and feature functionality of the product.
