FOR WOMEN PARTICIPATION… ONE FAMILY PEOPLE ENGAGE HUSBANDS

As a way of empowering women in the community, One Family People over the weekend solicited the support of husbands for women empowerment.

The dialogue which took place at the Dworzak community brought together mindful husbands who want the best for their families.
African women have been taught respect and obey their husbands and notify them on issues affecting them; Sierra Leonean women are not exempted. To demonstrate this obedient to their husbands, the women asked One Family People to first engage their husbands for them to get the good news the Family is bringing for them and how they can benefit from it before they can participate.
Programme Manager, One Family People, Hadiatou Diallo said the decision to involve their husband explained to the men that their wives can contribute to economic well being of their home.
She said there have been cases wherein some men can steal their wives’ money.
While on the other side, some men lack trust in their wives. "Some will think that their wives are cheating on them which most times is not the case. That is why we are engaging them, in order to let them know that they can join hands and develop the home," she said.
She disclosed that they will have a Men Support Fund as a way for them to encourage their women to expose their talents and to also identify the cause’s women’s backwardness in economic development.
She further stated that they will open adult education centre for the women and explore their skills to earn their income.
Abubakar Kargbo described the dialogue as a fruitful one and that it has made him to give his wife the free will to learn more skills.
Most of the participants SALONE TIMES spoke to expressed appreciation to One Family People for their open engagement. Contribution from the men on how they should strengthen the group climaxed the occasion.
