TRACE: Time Is What Agenda For Prosperity Failed To Address
Happy New Year to my beloved readers, TRACE is very pleased to see you againthis new season. The expectations of Sierra Leoneans are very high this year. Some Departments, Ministries and Agencies will begin to see the changes the 2014 budget bring this year. This is a welcome idea from TRACE, thanks to the government for such initiative. As TRACE was on vacation, TRACE was meditating on some of the words people were saying during the 2013 era. One thing that keeps swinging around TRACE was the issue of TIME. TRACE came to the realization that there are lots of emphases on time by many stakeholders. TRACE critically looked at the Agenda for prosperity under the All People Congress (APC) government. After attending many events during the past years and observing the lives of many Sierra Leoneans, TRACE has come to the realization that people do not value time. The word, in time means not late. The word punctuality is completely absent in the lives of many people including the present government. Time is extremely important in life as it helps to structure the daily lives and activities for one to live more organized, productive lives. It is surprising for TRACE to see a government talking about prosperity without time frame in mind. Now, our authorities know that most of the countries they visit value time more than anything in their lives. No wonder those countries are developing rapidly. There is a thought about ‘Black Man Time’ (BMT) that has made this country to be lagging behind. One common thing that TRACE found hilarious, is the way our Politicians are dealing with the word protocols when they are invited to events. They will sit idly in their homes and offices saying it is protocol while those that are invited will be waiting impatiently for them. And when they come they will be bold to tell lies and give long and boring speeches. A country cannot prosper if time is not put in to action; prompt time is what TRACE is talking about because even our creator stresses about time. “Ecclesiastes 3: 1 there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens;” So if God the Father lays emphasis on time, who are we not to work on time for development. While there are always drawbacks to being too conscious of time a feeling of being ruled by the clock. Time management is a set of principles, practices, skills, tools and systems that help you use your time to accomplish what you want. Time management is important for your personal life and career success. It teaches people how to manage their time effectively and make the most of it. TRACE was searching for the importance of time management and successconsciousness.com/blog/time-management gave TRACE some result. Here are a few of the reasons why it is so important, and how it can help you use and manage your time more advantageously: 1. Time is a special resource that you cannot store or save for later use. Everyone has the exact same amount of time each day. Time not well used cannot be retrieved. 2. Most people feel like they have too much to do and not enough time. They blame lack of time for their poor finances, unachieved goals, stress, bad relationships and not exercising their body. Wise time management can help you find the time for what you desire to do or need to do. 3. You need time to get what you want out of life. If you wait for extra time to appear, you might lose the game of life. Through right time management, you can “create” the time you need, and not just wait for it to come. By planning your time wisely, you will have more time to do more things. 4. Time management will help you set up your priorities. 5. Time is limited to 24 hours a day, so plan your life wisely. 6. Time management helps you make conscious choices, so you can spend more of your time doing things that are important and valuable to you. 7. You can learn to find the time for the things that are important to you. Even a small amount of time once a day, or even once a week, will take you closer to your goals, and you will be surprised at the progress you make. 8. You become more productive using improved time management skills and tools, and can accomplish more with less effort and time. Time management can help you reduce wasted time and energy, help you become more creative and productive, and enable you to do the right thing at the right time. This will of course lead to more balance and fulfillment in your life. 9. Life today presents so many distractions, and therefore, it is very easy to lose time on unimportant activities. Ask yourself, is watching this or that TV program, reading this or that gossip or participating in a certain activity is going to add anything to your life. Is the time spent on a particular activity well spent, or is just a waste of time and energy? 10. Life puts in front of everyone so many choices each day, and the question is, do you follow what appears on your way, or do you consciously choose what you want to do? Do you allow external distractions deter you from your goal, or do you use willpower and self-discipline to walk toward your goal in a straight line, without wasting time and energy? 11. Some inner detachment and inner peace are of great help in managing your time effectively. If you avoid expending too much emotional and mental energy on what people say and think about you, and if you stay calm in spite of distractions or difficulties, you can save a lot of time and energy, which you can spend on better and more rewarding activities. Can you see how Time is valuable in one’s life? If we want to achieve in this life and stop begging other nations, Time should be a must in everything we do. As TRACE stated above, the expectation of Sierra Leoneans are very high this year and for them to keep believing in the government, they need to do all they can to stress on time. It is not happening in the private sector because they are here for business all of this is happening in the government cycle. A government official can come to work when and how they feel and there is nobody to check them. This is not how it should be for a country that is dreaming about Prosperity. They need to wake up from their slumber. Prosperity will not come easily. One needs to work harder. One thing you should know is that one man cannot do it alone it should be a collective work. Team work can make the difference. If at all the ruling government is thinking smart they should have started from changing the mindset of people about BMT to GMT in their attitudinal change campaign. TRACE wants to believe that this is a brand new year and the changes need to be made now if this nation will make progress. Let there be tougher laws on time to effect the change of Prosperity.
