Western Area Gets Africell 3,750 Kilos Of Rice

The leading GSM operator in Sierra Leone Africell yesterday 16th September presented the first set of donation of 3,750 kilos rice in the second consignment of food provision to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation for onward delivery to Ebola epicenters, quarantined communities and other areas significantly affected by the Ebola epidemic. The presentation was done at the Western Area District Medical Center at Cline Town. In his presentation to the District Medical Officer on behalf of Management and staff of africell, Africell Media Relation Supervisor, Tommy Terry Coker said the presentation was in line with the initiative launched by africell Chief Executive Officer, Shadi Gerjawi on 19th August 2014, to set aside Le1.00 (one Leone) for every minute spoken on the Africell network; to be used to provide food provision as part of the company’s continuing support to the Ebola campaign. Terry Coker went on to say that Western Area has 3,750 kilos out of the 20,000 kilos in their second presentation which was done past Friday. “We hope that with the contribution of africell and other stakeholders we will bring this epidemic to an end,” Terry Coker said.
Receiving the donation, Western Area District Medical Officer Rev. Dr. Thomas Samba said on behalf of the affected and infected individuals, District Medical Team and the Ministry of Health thanked africell for join them in the ministry to fight the epidemic. Dr. Samba said what africell has done shows patriotism. “We want to assure you that your goodwill gesture will go a long way in the fight against Ebola. I want to wish you and the management of africell a prosperous business,” he said. It could be recalled that on Friday 29th August 2014, africell presented the first consignment of 22, 500 kilos of rice to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation for delivery to Ebola Epicenters and Quarantined Communities in Kailahun, Kenema, Bombali, Tonkolili and Port Loko.
