Maria Donates To Flood Victims
Sierra Leone finest performing artist, entertainer,
musician and model Maria Kargbo has donated to the Freetown flood victims.
Presenting the items at the Siaka Stevens Stadium in
Freetown over the weekend, Ibrahim Bangura, Maria’s Coordinator said Maria was shocked
by the news. Ibrahim Bangura reflected on some of the activities of Maria in
Sierra Leone such as her tremendous help in the fight against ebola.
“She made Le 50 million fund raising with World Health
Organization (WHO) for the fight against Ebola. She also donated to the First
Lady of Sierra Leone, Sia Nyama Koroma.
On the side of education, Ibrahim went on, “just before
the reopening of schools, Maria also gave over 300 thermometers to schools and
supported some street children among others.”
The items which include 50 bags of 50kg of rice, hundred
bundles of water, soaps, and hand sanitizers among others.
Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, Madam
Kadija Kamara of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children Affairs thanked
Maria and team for their positive response to the ugly situation. She described
Maria as a philanthropist who always keep in touch with Sierra Leone and Sierra
Leoneans.
Madam Kamara encouraged Maria to continue her help to
this nation as she is one of the few Sierra Leoneans who is doing such for her
nation.
“We appreciated
you and we are making sure that it reaches the right people”, she stressed.
She advised all those who are acting or pretending to be victims
of the flood to stop now or else action will be taken against them.
Maria has being in China for years now and her move has
being welcome from all walks of life.
Speaking to this Press from China in a telephone
interview about her donation, Maria extended her heart felt condolence to all
those who lost their loved once during the flood.
Maria said she liked to see everybody happen around her
as part of her passion and that is why
she is doing such donation. She pointed out that it is good for one to help
where it is necessary and that she loves to help others at all time.
“When I think of the children and the home, something in
the inside of me always moved, that is why I decided to do such fund raising,”
she said.
She went on to say that, “it is my fervent believed that
if we help those that are in need we will grow together in love, peace and
harmony. This is the culture that I am practicing.”
Maria stressed the need for people to help the flood
victims as what happen to them is not their making and that it is a natural
disasters.
Back in China, Maria made the biggest ever fund raising
event for the Chinese Charity Home in China according to the Chinese Authority.
Charity Home is a home that hosted dozens of children that are disabled.
