Maria Gives More Learning Materials To Grafton Polio School

Teachers as well as pupils of Maria Primary School, Polio Community (MPSPC) Grafton have benefited from another set of learning materials worth over three thousand Dollars from the Mariatu Kargbo Foundation. The donation which took place at the school ground on Monday 28^th November, 2016 was done by the Ibrahim Bangura, Maria’s Coordinator.

While giving the items, Ibrahim Bangura recalled some of the donations Mariatu Kargbo Foundation had made to the school. He said Maria saw the need to come to the aid of those children because of the value and the potential they have.

He pointed out that the best benefit the children could have is education.

He called on all Sierra Leoneans to join them in support of the children. He said the school building project is on-going, and now they are at wall height, they need more support from others to complete the building.

The children are currently occupying the health centre as school.

“Imagine you educate a child especially the girl child you educate the whole nation. If we want to get a better nation, this is the time for us to show our support to them. Let us not allow them to be isolated. The want to show that disability is not inability,” Ibrahim Bangura said.

He gave a background of Maria who is the Properties of the Mariatu Kargbo Foundation to the children.

“This is how Maria started just like the way you are. One thing she agreed to do was to exercise patience in learning. We love you all, we will never forget but be patient to educate yourself, focus on what the teachers are telling you and when you go home play a little, rest and study.”

Conveying the message of Maria to the kids, Mr. Bangura said “Maria said she loves you so much and she will always think of you.”

Head Teacher of MPSPC Madam Lamrana Jalloh thanked Maria for her timely intervention and said  only God will reward her for what she was doing for them and the children.

She joined others to call for support as they are vulnerable.

“We appreciate the effort of Maria. She always comes to our aid. Maria is doing her own but you too can give yours to develop and promote our dreams for the children to get quality and conductive teaching and learning atmospheres.”

She said what she told them before about the learning materials have come to pass from what they have seen as this is not the first material she has donated. She told her audience that the children are doing well as they are going all out to ensure that the children have good education. 

The school whose Motto is “Education is success” have some children as well as their teachers that are physically challenged.   

Chairman Polio Challenge Association (POCA) Grafton Polio Community Simeon Kamara called on other donors to help the children “Whosoever wants to help vulnerable children let them come to Maria Primary School.” 

He thanked Maria on behalf of the community and the teachers for her support to the school. 

“Maria was sent by God to this community. We are faced with some kind of disappointment but we thank God for Maria help.” 

Mr. Kamara stressed that they are not getting any other stipend beside the one Maria is giving them.

Mariatu Kargbo who is one of Sierra Leone’s finest performing Artist, Entertainer, Musician and Model is based in China. Through her performance over the years, Maria has been engaging in fund raising events in China to raise money in helping under privileged kids in China and Sierra Leone. Few months ago Maria donated learning materials to school kids and has been involved in supporting children, women and girls in various sectors of the country. Some of the items donated are rolls of uniform, cartons of books, pencils, slippers among others.
