An Ode
to the Bishop
By Mrs. Williette James
By Mrs. Williette James
I sit at my table,
compiling this work
I read all the
scripts, but can’t add a word
I ask myself calmly a
question so clear
What else can I
write, to give him a cheer?
My mind says there’s
nothing
My heart says,
there’s something
My hands start to
type out a poem just like that.
This seems so
interesting,
I just can’t imagine
My bones are
resisting the tiredness I’m feeling.
The reason is obvious
This hero’s
industrious
There’s no way my
strength can relent to express that
There’s no way my
words can be lost to describe that
True warriors dare
Thank God you don’t
fear
You’ll always exterminates
Whate’er contaminates
That’s who I admire,
My captain, my bishop, my father, my papa.
