LICSSAL Business College Matriculate 300 Students


About 300 students were matriculated by LICSSAL Business College. The ceremony which was graced by parents and well-wishers on Friday April 22nd has been marked as one of best in the history of the college.

Students that are pursuing Degree, HND, Diploma and Certificate were in a joyous mood to see themselves in such dress.

In her keynote address, guest speaker Mrs Lara Taylor-Pearce Auditor-General, Audit Service Sierra Leone said she was quiet please to be among students. She recalled her Matriculation day at Fourah Bay College.

Madam Taylor-Pearce was admonishing students about integrity which she said is the ultimate goal for any successful people.

Pointing out that the issue of being truthful and faithful at all-time should always taking in to consideration. She said there are some rules that students should face to the letter.

As student she added they are expected to avoid malpractices in exams and other extra school activities.

She pointed out that as young people there are some difficulties they will face in life but they should always tell themselves they will do the right thing to the end as she always do.



“At time in is not easy you will face an opposition sometimes, very stiff opposition. If someone has integrity will face such. Things we see as common are things that will bring you down,” she said.

She urged them to do the right things at all time. “Sometimes I feel I am in a world of my own, with integrity as a watch world, the sky is your limit.”

LICCSAL Principal Mrs Memunatu Warne Proprieties and Principal recalled that LICCSAL at its inception in 2000 started with eighteen students most of which were on scholarship from the proprietors.

She said LICCSAL started with two courses, which were Business studies and Secretarial studies. Presently she said their course structure has extended to areas scu as Marketing, Mass Communication, Human Resources Management, Accounting and Finance, Purchasing and Procurement, Community Development Studies, Business Administration and Information Technology.

She disclosed that LICCSAL has successfully earned a provisional affiliation status to the University of Sierra Leone. “This means that you can now study at LICCSAL and earn a degree conferred by the University of Sierra Leone. The programme which is being supervised by IPAM has already commenced 3 years ago.”


She went on to say since the student came to the college to grow intellectually, the only way they will grow is as if they are challenged in their thinking to have their ideas questioned to be pushed to consider the assumptions that underlie their agreement and to have their logic subjected to the closest possible scrutiny.

Mrs Warne spoke about relationship with fellow students, dream big, pursue extra-curricula activities, good conduct, examinations, safeguard college image and achievement which the college have made.

LICCSAL Vice Principle Dr. Roland E. Buck educated the students about matriculation which he said refers to the formal process of entering and educational institution, or being eligible to enter by Acquiring the required qualifications. It also means a process that brings a college and a student who enrols in a program of study into agreement for the purpose of realizing the student’s educational objectives.

The agreement he went on involves the responsibilities of both parties to attain those objectives through the college’s established programs and entry requirements.

“The student’s responsibilities under the agreement including the expression of at least a broad educational intent upon enrolment, the declaration of a special educational objective within a reasonable period after enrolment, diligence in class attendance and completion of assigned classwork, maintenance of progress towards an educational goal, according to standards established by LICCSAL.”


Correspondingly he stressed LICCSAL has an obligation to provide a conducive campus environment for the student to thrive. This he said includes quality instruction, competent lecturers, reasonable tuition and fees and a caring staff.

“The Goals of matriculation are: to ensure that all students complete their college courses, progress to the next academic term and achieve their educational objectives through the assistance of college authorities.”

The ceremony was chaired by Hassan Kamara lecturer of the Mass Communication Department LICCSAL.

Students expressed their happiness and determination to be part of the institution.  

Oath of Allegiance was done by Benjamin Lebbie and the Director of Academic Affairs Dr. Harold Hedd. The ceremony ends with the signing of the College’s register.
