Journalist Beware As … SLPP Hooligans Now Target Journalists

On Saturday 7th May 2016 SALONE TIMES Sports reporter Bockarie Allieu visited the Sierra Leone Peoples Party headquarters to see a friend Mohamed Massaquoi who does layout for the party’s newspaper.

Unfortunately for Allieu, he was attacked by a lady called Mariama who claimed Allieu was a journalist and was at the party office to spy them and report.  The lady continued to use abusive words on Allieu while the others forced him to go out of the compound. He tried to explain himself to them why he was at the party office but the more they became adamant and the number started to increase shouting we don’t want any journalist here.
They took his bag from him search his pocket to see if there was any recorder with him but could not find any.
The situation started to get worse as they become uncontrollable with one mind that the office is no go area for journalist as they are all spies.

Even the presence of some elders at the office was no help. In fact, one of the elders without investigating if Allieu was there to spy confirmed that whatever Mariama talk is true as she hardly lies. Just after the World Press day, there was pressure on the ruling party for press freedom. “But with the declaration of war on journalists by the SLPP supporters the party elders need to do something before they could face media blackout,” a colleague journalist warn.
He went on that he now sees why the police denied them clearance to go on the street. Because according to him if the elders can’t control these boys at their office there is no way they could control them on the street.

Africell Gives Over Le 242 Million To Subscribers

S ierra Leone finest GSM operator Africell has presented Le 242,265,000 to lucky winners in the on-going “Africell 3G ++ Ramadan Show’’.
