APC MAYOR CALLS FOR… DIVINE INTERVENTION

Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma and Mayor of Freetown
By Abdulrahman Koroma
The mayor of Freetown City Council, Franklyn Bode Gibson has called on religious leaders to pray for a nation that might sink in the not too distant future.
He made this statement last Monday while talking about the rotten ‘bomeh’ chicken that has flooded the market.
Mayor Gibson blamed the Ministry of Health and Sanitation for any consumption of the rotten chickens dumped at ‘Bommeh’ dumpsite.
He stated that they had no knowledge of a 40ft container at the site and that  they were not informed by the Health Ministry neither Massada before dumping the rotten chicken at the Bommeh dust bin.
He claimed  that he only knew about the story behind the expired chickens through the social media, and that Masada and the Health Ministry chose the wrong machinery for the process.
“ It is an insult to use our dumping site without seeking our consent,” the Mayor of Freetown asserted.
“We learnt that the dumpers only scraped the surface and dumped the expired chicken without properly digging the area well. If they would have informed us, we would have given them proper directives before going on with the exercise” he averred.

He asserted that they would not be treating the issue with levity and that the people who did the whole exercise would be investigated and brought to book.
He added that health is wealth, and that if a nation must prosper, the health of her citizen must be ensured. Mayor Gibson noted that he cannot attribute the attitude of citizens to poverty but a nation whose citizens has refused to deviate from their bad ways.
Mayor Gibson pointed out that the manner at which Sierra Leoneans are disseminating the story on social media is bad and it dents the image of the country.  Meanwhile, the ministry of health and sanitation has issued out a press release making their stance on the dumped Brazilian expired chickens at the Bumeh dust bin in the eastern part of Freetown.

The Ministry makes it known to the general public that the dumped chicken is contaminated and that over 75% of it has been crushed with mud, human fesses including domestic and industrial wastes from MASSADA front load machine. The press release further stated that the chicken has been infested by two types of bacteria- CAMPYLOBACTER and SALMONELLA  and that the chicken will let one suffer from DIARRHEA, CHOLERA and HELMINTHIASIS.
