TRACE: When Tenant Bullied Landlord...?

Folks, how are you doing? TRACE wants to wish you Merry Christmas and a bright and prosperous 2017 in advance. It was on Sunday after this week TRACE was reflecting on some of the issues that came up in the country, these few months; issues such as the Passport, EDSA and Guma tariffs, Petrol and freedom of speech among others.
As TRACE was reflecting on those issues, in his little corner, overlooking Freetown, TRACE came to the realization that the will of the people didn’t come to play.
From all points of view, Millions of Sierra Leoneans condemned the move taken by the government to increase and cut subsidy as one that is not in their interest.
It was clear that the government had one motive whether or not the people accept; they must implement some of those changes but for them not to be chastised by citizens they disguised in the form of consultation or sensitization. Just for them to say we informed and engaged the populace.
The government has acted in such manner against the will of the people (the Landlord).
As TRACE was reflecting on these issues, TRACE mind ran  back to  the 2007 elections when the now opposition then ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) was in power and the All People’s Congress (APC) was the then opposition now ruling party were campaigning.
The issue of ownership came to play. On the side of SLPP they claimed to be the Landlord while the APC was saying the Landlord are the voters as they had to decide who will govern them for the next five years.
There were different songs that were sung by different musicians, saying they are the Landlord, the notice will not right because they are the Landlord. While the APC artist (Innocent) came with the song we will give them notice.

At the end of the day the will of the people was seen. They indeed gave notice to SLPP who by virtue was tenant and they (the Citizens) decided to rent another party for another five years.
This happened because this party in question made lot of promises, to take care of the Landlord, create employment for them, give them good housing, sound economy, good road, electricity, pipe burn water, education, uphold their human rights and freedom of speech among others.
When the five years reached, the Landlord considers some of the promises made by the tenant and decided to re-rent them for another five years.
After one year of the five years, the tenant began to misbehave. The tenant doesn’t want to keep to their agreement and promises any more. Instead they began to enrich themselves, came with laws that can only suit their interest.
They were focusing on enriching themselves while part of the house began to crack and other part was falling. They only came to realization that time is not on their favour, the Landlord will ask for her house. The tenant bypassed the elders of the land (voters) and starts negotiating with the children (those that are below the voting age) asking them to shout in the ears of the elders for “more time”.
You will sense something here that they have failed to keep to their promise and the house which they promise to upkeep is now falling. The elders of the land kicked against “more time” demanding their house come 2018.

Since the Landlord has turned down the request of the tenant, the tenant began to be hostile against the Landlord. The tenant introduced heavy duties taxes against the Landlord. For you to ship anything into the house, you will begin to pay this, I will remove the school fees subsidy for your children and that of fuel, and you will begin to pay GST for electricity and water. For you to leave the country, your passport price will change from today.

The Landlord saw that the condition is too much for them, they want their voice to be heard by calling others to rescue them from the hands of their wicked tenant.
The tenant who promised the Landlord of her freedom of speech and association began to restrict the Landlord and threaten to imprison them, if they venture to come out on the streets to protest.
Since the Landlord was threatened of imprisonment, the children whom the tenant was looking up to for assistance took upon themselves to protest unannounced against the oppressive nature of their tenant, to the surprise of the tenant. Hahahahahaha… It was like a Nigeria film.
The tenant came with another band; the Landlord should not post anything on social media, not even their children whom they think would have backed them.
Can you imagine such move, the tenant cleaners are moving around with hot waters to spray on any Landlord that attempt to come out.
It is impossible for you to rebuild a house that is falling in less than one year. It is time for the tenant to bring some of the money they have kept to use in their retirement to rebuild the house.
From what TRACE saw is like the foundation has shaken. Which tenant will rebuild the house from the foundation now is still the question the Landlord is pondering over.
The Landlord is wicked and tired with the stress caused by the tenant. Instead of the tenant to pay rents now, the Landlord is paying the tenant. What a world?
TRACE is still watching the movie from the hill top of Freetown while the Landlord is thinking of another option come 2018….
