Andrew KemohKeili held a brief meeting
in his constituency to sensitize them on the registration process.
The meeting was held in his constituency
to educate his people on the ongoing registration, so that they will be able to
cast their votes in the 2018 elections.
The meeting was attended by members of
the SLPP, youths and other stakeholders.
Keilli said he was pleased to see
everyone and stressed that the coming elections will be for everyone but it
will be more for the young folks because they are the future leaders.
“Many people will come out to rally but
would not register. It’s very important that all of us are registered so that
we can cast our votes because our votes will be speaking for us.”
He reminded the young people about the war
that killed many and made many to suffer just for the democracy they are
enjoying today because according to him, people were not given the privilege to
vote for whom they want but were forced to vote under gun point.
He described the democracy they have
today as a ‘’hard democracy’’.
“Now that we are allowed into the
polling booth to vote freely, it’s an advantage and we should not waste it.
There is a very good chance for our party this time around compared to the
previous elections and for that reason, we should register and get our party
back to power,” he stressed.
He explained that they have a lot for
the young people in their manifesto and that with unity and determination plus
hard work, they can still make it happen.
He maintained that if only they get
registered and cast their votes in the 2018 elections, their party will be back
in power.
“Young people who have reached the
voting age must be registered because their votes count a lot.”
He said that there is a reason to vote,
because all votes are equal, adding that it doesn’t matter whether one is young ,old or a professor in a
university, they all have one vote.
He pleaded to all present at the meeting to go out and register and to
get others in the hood to register too.
“As long as you are an SLPP member, you
should take this registration very seriously,” Keilli reiterated
He also said that SLPP must take this stages,
from registration down to the election day, very vital and that party officials
should be very vigilant as elections rigging starts with registration.
‘’If you do not get register to
vote you will be blamed if your choice
of president, minister, councillor, honourable is not chosen and you will have
no voice to complain about,’’ he said.
He concluded by thanking all, and urged
them to put in more efforts in the process to get register and also promised to
continue his sensitization drive.
