At YES Summit… My Father's House Foundation Awards Youth for Excellent
The Youth Empowerment
Synergy (YES) summit that was organized by My Father's House Foundation (MFHF)
with support from Africell ended with an extra ordinary rewarding excellence
YES 2017 awards and cocktail.
The summit which started
from the 3rd April ends on the 7th April 2017 at the Miatta Conference Hall in
Freetown.
The week long event saw
different stakeholders in the youth business such as the Minister of Youth
Affairs, National Youth Commissioner among others gracing the event.
MFHF Co-Founder and Head of
Strategy, Ninie Unachuku described the summit as one that is in line with their
dreams and vision for the youth.
She said MFHF started their mentoring program
for young people between the ages of 16 to 25 few months back as a way of
empowering them for a brighter future not only for themselves but the nation as
a whole.
MFHF is a non-profit
community initiative set up in Sierra Leone to assist in the regeneration
effort of the nation. She mentioned that all their membership is Sierra
Leoneans at home and abroad that have real passion to help young people from
falling below the poverty line and build a strong nation.
According to her MFHF
strongly believed that the life of every Sierra Leonean matters and that every
Sierra Leonean can become great contributor to the national good.
Madam Ninie Unachuku went
further to explained that they called their first project 'Start with One'
She added that when the
youth succeed they succeed; if they fail they would have failed to impact their
next generation of potential Doctors, Lawyers, Sportsmen, Entertainers and
Business Moguls among others.
MFHF Co-Founder and Head of
Public Relations, Rosemarie Suma-Keita said MFHF provide access to
rehabilitation, education, training and entrepreneurship.
“Basically we take off where
other charities have left off. We look after the victims so they don't fall below
the poverty line.”
She stressed that MFHF acts
as the go between for the vulnerable children and young people, by providing
them with access to; medical help, educational and vocational training and also
business and entrepreneurial training including access to a micro loan for the
qualified to start their own business venture.
The award ceremony was to
celebrate young people of excellence in different categories such as sport,
advocacy, leadership, environment, peer support, entrepreneurship arts and
culture and technical innovations.
The winners who were called
upon and awarded expressed their profound joy.
It was a colorful night as
Melford Vincent walked away with an award as Young Entrepreneur of the year.
Young Activist Award went to

Arts and Culture Award went
to Morrison Jusu
Volunteer and Person of the
year awards went to Alusine Diamond Suma
Environmentalist Awards
winner was Hawanatu Sam
Peer Support Award went to
Sean Easier
Over Comer Awards winner

Leadership Award winner

Sportsmanship Award winner
David Remie Wilson thanked his fans.

Mansaray was also so happy about the whole thing.
A little showcase of fashion
was displayed by students from a vocational institution called TREE OF
LIFE. Madam Sylvian Effie Leigh is the
backbone behind that institution and was very pleased that they were given such
an opportunity to display and advertise their products.
She pleaded that they need
support because it's being run by her alone. She encouraged people to come on
board to help discovered the hidden talents in the young people of this
country.
Melford Vincent one of the
award winners is the CEO of I-GRO natural and relaxing hair production. She explained how she came into the business
world and how she is determined to ensure that her brand is recognized all over
the world. She thanked the organizer for such recognition and promise to leave
up to their expectation.
