APC Neglects Them… Moeba Community Threatens To Reflect Their dissatisfaction In The Ballot Box

Residents of Moeba and Mambaridge communities at a community stakeholders meeting at the Moeba Primary School (Kankalay) facilitated by Community Action for Development and Safety (CADSa) have threatened to reflect their community’s neglect in the ballot box.

The community meeting which took place on Sunday 28^th May, 2017, brought different stakeholders together to map out developmental strategies for their community.

According to the community elders, Moeba gave APC huge votes during the past elections in so much that President Koroma recognized them when he addressed them at the Attouga Stadium.  But the community said from that time the APC has turned their back on them. 

Chairman of that meeting Chenor A.R.Conteh however cautioned stakeholders to limit their discussion on issues that are affecting their community as the meeting was not a political one.

“This is a meeting that is meant to address the burning issues in our community. We need to hang heads to ensure that our community is developed.”

One of the members of the committee and Public Relation Officer, Alimamy Conteh explained that the meeting is a community meeting. He said security, bad roads, health and education are their key issues that are affecting their community.

“We will reflect our community’s neglect in the ballot boxes as a community. Let us pull it behind us that the community is APC.”

He pointed out that even the have pipe borne water that flows through the community is contaminated. The question the community is asking is what they have benefited after voting for overwhelmingly for the APC and the recognition of their community by President Koroma.

Mr Conteh spoke about the teachers that have stopped doing voluntary service because they are not on the government payroll.

“With or without political connection we need to stand up for our community. We are tired of being lied to by MPs and Councillors about the approval of the road. Government should give us better roads better health care and school.”

Chief Yaraba Bangura said he used to cover the potholes on the road whenever they were bad and that they have been praying and hoping for development in the community when President Koroma came into power but their hopes have all been dashed as nothing has been done in terms of development in their community.
Madam Marie Kamara said the problems are too much but if they hang heads as community they will have the solution to some of these problems. Madam Marie Kamara said she is a victim of the bad road.

Speaking on behalf of the contractors, Ibrahim Sorie Bangura said they have suffered more than others because they are plying the routes more than anybody with their trucks and that they have spent a lot of money to maintain the road to the extent that they can't do it anymore.
Alusine Mansaray LMO representative said they should focus on the solutions rather than the problems. He pointed out that the road is their main route to other areas of the community.
Ibrahim Bakarr representative of the motorbikes riders expressed dissatisfaction on the government for turning their backs on them. He said during the past elections their community got one of the highest votes for the APC.

“We are calling on the government to come to our aid. We will continue to call on the government to do what we have given to them. We have been deprived.”
Alusine Koroma the youth representative said if the road is not constructed within the next two years encroachers would eventually occupy half of it.

“There is a lot of encroachment on the road; they have blocked the gutters in the name of searching for land.”

The community Councillor said there are lots of thing they need in the community, ranging from education to road and health. He called on ACF to check the dam to ensure that the community has safe drinking water.
