As APC Outlines Convention date…Stiff Conditions For Presidential Flag Bearers

Members of the National Adversary Council of the All People Congress (APC) party have outlined very stringent conditions for all those that are aspiring for positions of the party.

During a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Freetown on Friday 2nd June 2017, the APC Secretary General Ambassador Osman Yansaneh announced resolutions of their June 1st NAC Meeting.
He said for one to be a National Party Officer, that candidate must have served the party at national, regional and district level for a period not less than 10 years, that candidate must be a paid up and active member for not less than 7 years, that candidate must have institutional knowledge of the party, a background check of the individual must ensure that he or she comply with the requirement obtain in the APC constitution and the Sierra Leone Constitution Act number 6 of 1991, that candidate must have a certified requirement obtained in other statutory state instrument, such as the PPRC Act of 2002 and the Public Election Act of 2012 and that candidate must signed the written document if he or she is not elected must support the winner.
Similar condition was levied on the Regional Party Officer but he or she must have served the party for at least 6 years, active and must have institutional knowledge of the party in his or her contesting region.  Must be prepared to accept the decision of NAC and support the winner if he or she is not elected in a written document.
At District level the requirement for any candidate is 4 years’ service to the party and must be paid up member.
On the side of the selection or endorsement of the Presidential candidate, Ambassador Osman Yansaneh stated that the candidate must be compliance with the provision of sections 41 A, B, C and D and section 42-1 of the 1991 constitution of Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Osman Yansaneh pointed out that the aspirant must also certify the qualification and disqualification clauses in section 75 and 76 on the said National Constitution, the PPRC Act and the Public Election Act. 

“The aspirant must be a genuine and sincere for the continuation of President Koroma agenda for change and prosperity and the protection of his legacies.”
The person must have institutional knowledge of the APC
Ambassador Osman Yansaneh added that the presidential aspirant must have party and national appeal, must have invested in the APC financially or otherwise, must be active in party matters and he must be a paid up member. 
“We will not put any date for them but the candidate must be prepared and willing to accept the decision of NAC and the convention.”
All the contesting candidates must sign an undertaken to support whoever is elected or selected.
He pointed out that NAC wishes to underline the unity and continuity of their party through that they came with the theme ‘united for victory and continuity’ for their conventions.
According to him the convention will start from constituency, district, regional, international and the last will be the presidential delegates’ convention.
APC drives as a disciplined and organised party and believes that the party is bigger than anybody else. The National Advisory Committee shall supervise all the conventions.
At the NAC meeting, President Earnest Bai Koroma was endorsed to continue as Chairman and Leader of the APC party, to ensure tranquillity within the party and to strengthen the life of the party after the unity and transition the party.

National Executive Officers must have served at regional, district or constituency level to be qualified for selection or election
Presidential Candidate and running mate, must fulfil the 1991 Constitution, the elections and PPRC Acts
