Ramadan Show…First Africell Millionaire Emerges

The first day of the Africell Ramadan show 2017 saw Memuna with GSM number 030016690 and of Rokupa Wellington east of Freetown as the first Millionaire to takes home Le 5 Million and one Freezer.
Memuna a student chose the Moon 2 where she first won one deep Freezer and proceeded to choose Star One where the treasure key was. She was asked to choose from Box A, B and C and she ended up choosing box A that contained Le 5 Million.

On Saturday 27th May 2017, Africell launched 2017 Ramadan promotion, in a bid of appreciating the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Africell Administrative Manager, Abdul Aziz Gabisi, in his welcome address stated that the company recognizes and respects all faiths in the country, adding that the company is also a respecter of humanity.
“The company appreciates the holy month of Ramadan and has observed the teachings of forgiveness, mercy and prayers for life after death,” he asserted.
1`Q       Africell Corporate Affairs Manager, Joe Abass Bangura, stated that the company prides itself of being at the cutting edge of technological innovation in the communication industry, the company for the first time will switch on a symbolic Ramadan Crescent Moon.
“Islam emerged from Arabia, from where it moved along the desert trade route largely by night and navigation depended upon the position of the moon. The moon in Islam thus represents the guidance of God on the path through life,” he maintained.
He explained that Africell is living up to its reputation for exceptional promotions that provide customers with the opportunity to celebrate religious festivals, and that the company also encouraged their valid subscribers to play fun games and win great prizes in the process.
He pointed out that the 2017 Africell Ramadan Show will dish out over Le 500,000,000 (five hundred million Leones) and that subscribers can participate in the show by sending a blank SMS to or call 777 to automatically qualify.
Joe Abass continued that every blank SMS sent or call made to the aforementioned number will incur a charge of 650 Leones but subscribers will be awarded a bonus credit of the same amount which must be utilized before 12 o’clock midnight on the same date.
He stated that, due to the provisions on the finance act, 10% will be deducted from every Le500,000 winning which will be diverted to the National Revenue Authority as tax.
He reminded subscribers that the only authorized mobile number for the promotion is 077777777 and any number rather than that is fake.
Alhaji Latif Kargbo gave a talk about Ramadan, Sheikh Ibrahim King spoke about the essence for Muslims to see the moon before fasting, and Sheikh Kallay spoke about the conduct of Muslims during the month of Ramadan.

Rev. Kargbo-Johnson thanked God and africell for bringing them together in every terms. He said the peaceful co-existence of the two religions is a good sings of peace and love in the country. He said africell is doing very well because they are the leading GSM Company in the country.
Political Affairs Minister Nannette Thomas said it was a good thing and called on all to come together.
Minister of Information and Communications Mohamed Bangura said they fully aware that africell is going beyond their Corporate Social Responsibility.
“We are calling on them to continue doing what they are doing. I am appealing to every Sierra Leonean, if we sit and allow a company like africell to be closed, job creation will be difficult. We need to allow them to recover their cost. As a government we want to thank Africell and ask them to continue their good job.”
He concluded by saying that was not the time to talk long but to buy the recharge card and dial 777.
