VICTOR FOH NAMED IN KAMARAIMBA's ARREST
Kamarainba Mansaray,
Leader Alliance Democratic Party yesterday accused Vice President BockarieFoh
as the mastermind to his arrest vis-à-vis alleged unlawful possession of
firearm.
Kamarainba
claimed his arrest came shortly after Vice President Foh summoned the AIG East,
KarrowKamara, his Local Unit Commander Segbewma Police Station, Supt. Joseph Kargbo to his Tower Hill office,
blaming and mouth lashing them for failing to arrest the former when he was
found in possession of a firearm.
That he
(Kamarainba) came to know this when called upon by the police at their Freetown
headquarters in relation to the alleged weapon/firearm found his possession
while on a political campaign trip in Segbewma a week later.
“On my
arrival at police headquarters, I first met LUC Joseph Kargbo who angrily told
me he was summoned to the office of the Vice President, where incidentally he
was badly treated and later ordered to unnecessarily caused my arrest and
without delay prosecution too,” Kamarainba said.
He said
after being charged to the court on three counts, he was on first appearance
refused bail, kept behind bars at the Kenema correctional center for about a
week before finally granted self bail on second appearance.
It is a fact
ADP Kamarainba a week to his arrest and prosecution was reportedly intercepted
by the police while in Segbewma town and found in possession of small
arm/offensive weapon without lawful authority, charged and was refused bail,
later kept behind bars for days.
His arrest
came a week, days after the police allegedly caught him in possession of a
firearm, which they say was a weapon utterly harmful and was unlawfully
possessed.
However, and
what baffled minds of the public is the fact that the police failed arresting
Kamarainba just about the time he was found in possession of the alleged
offensive weapon/firearm, rather had done so after about a week, of course,
following demands from the political class.
Their
assumptions are that the ADP politician should have been arrested at the scene
of crime and at the Police headquarter, taking into cognizance section 13 (a)
of criminal procedure act which gives right to the police to arrest any person
who within the view of the police commits an offence.
Karrow Kamara,
Assistant Inspector General Eastern Province recently had told Sierra Leoneans
that Kamarainba’s arrest was effected at their Freetown Headquarter office, but
did not state any reason for such an unprincipled action.
Recent
revelation by Kamarainba that the police were ordered by the Vice President
office, where regrettably they were humiliated for not arresting Kamarainba
after finding in his possession an
offensive weapon, has raised the suspicion that the selected Vice President,
Victor Bockarie Foh, may have masterminded police’s courted standpoint against
the ADP politician.
Kamarainba,
who last week, was granted self-bail after spending almost a week in cells of
the Kenema Correctional Center, second appearance was represented by battery of
lawyers from the opposition Sierra Leone People Party and from private legal
practitioners nationwide.
The civil
society and the media were also in court in follow up of the matter on
Kamarainba’s second appearance.
