Over APC Flagbearership...Kemo Sesay Condemns APC Opportunists

As the political momentum continues to develop in the country, there has been an outpour of political bashing within the rank and file of the ruling All People Congress as to who is fit or unfit to replace President Ernest Bai Koroma.
The latest person in line to condemn other candidates in the party is the Minister of Works and Infrastructural Development, Kemo Sesay. He condemned those he referred to as opportunists.
In his exclusive interview with a local tabloid, Kemo Sesay reportedly said that some of those who want to be flagbearers in the party only joined the party in 2007.
Kemo Sesay implied that many of those fighting for the flagbearership were opportunists who only joined the party after they were offered jobs by President Koroma.
He lashed out that some of the people who are now spending lavishly in the party are only doing so because of the gains they envisage. This many people believe that it is a statement against John Bonor Sesay who is a cousin of the President and has been spending lavishly to become the party flagbearers.
"Where were they when we were challenging some of the policies of the SLPP in Parliament from 1996 to 2007? Some of them were even afraid of associating with the party whilst we were in opposition," Kemo Sesay stressed.
He lamented that it would be unfair for them who had suffered in the party if one of the new comers were to be selected.
It is believed that Kemo Sesay was referring to Zainab Hawa Bangura, Joseph Fitzgeral Kamara, Dr Kelfala Marrah and John Bonor Sesay who are perceived as new kids in the party's block.
The APC has slated the first weekend in September for the convention that will either select or elect the flagbearer.
