Youths Declare… ‘Sir Jay Is Our Next MP’
As
Sierra Leone continues to be admired by the world for its religious tolerance
between Muslims and Christians, youths in Constituency 129 on Sunday 25th June
2017 came out in their numbers to celebrate this year's EiduFitri or end of
Ramadan.
To
preach peace, unity, and love amongst youths in that part of the city, the
leading contender for the parliamentary symbol in Constituency 129 under the
All Peoples Congress (APC) party, Lamin A. Kamara, aka 'Sir Jay', organized a
football competition for various categories including women.
The
matches, played on Sunday 25th and Monday 26th June 2017 respectively, brought
together ghetto youths and gangsters under a single platform to interact and
promote peace, unity and development.
At
the end of the matches, the APC aspirant, 'Sir Jay' presented cash prizes to
the winners disclosing that this is not the first time he has been associating
with youths in the constituency, the reason he is optimistic that if awarded
the APC symbol to contest the parliamentary seat, he would live up to the
expectation of his people.
He
reiterated that the football competition was to among others sensitize youths
about his political ambition and assured that as the youngest contender, he
would work in their best interest by not letting them down, appealed to the
people to have confidence and give him their unflinching support to improve
their welfare.
Alfred
Mansaray, a youth in Tengbeh Town commended 'Sir Jay' and assured him of their
unflinching support, loyalty and cooperation recalling Saturday 13th May 2017
when he donated 10 bags of cement, sand and an undisclosed sum of money for the
construction of the road at Upper Tengbeh Town noting, "when completed,
the road will help address the acute water crisis in the community as it will
be used by Guma Valley Water Company to supply water to the people."
Other
stakeholders in the community also commended 'Sir Jay' for his development
efforts and appealed to the APC party hierarchy to award him the symbol.
