Excel School donates to Freetown Cheshire Home

Excel Day-care and Primary School prides itself to be one of the best primary and day-care schools in the country, which has provided quality and affordable educational services to pupils over the years.
The school has established partnership with the Freetown Cheshire Home as a demonstration of love during the Valentine’s Day celebration. Excel Day-care and Primary School on Wednesday 20th February 2019 donated a big deep freezer and a cheque of Le3, 000, 000 (three million Leones) to the Freetown Cheshire Home at a colourful ceremony held at the Family Kingdom Children’s Play Ground in Freetown.
Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Excel School, Mrs Zorah Anthony underscored the importance of love for children in the Freetown Cheshire Home which her school has been demonstrating since its first donation last year. “We want our children to have a good partnership with their colleagues in the Cheshire Home,” she said and added that they are building a relationship that will last longer.
Mrs Onike King, Proprietress at Excel School said her children are practicing inclusiveness and have seen the need to support the less privileged at the Freetown Cheshire Home. “We want everybody in Excel to know that that love should be extended to each other at all times,” Mrs King said. She thanked parents and all those who supported the school to extend such goodwill gesture to the Freetown Cheshire Home.
Dr Abs Dumbuya, Chairman of Freetown Cheshire Home commended the existing relationship between his institution and Excel School. “We admire Excel a lot in what they do. We will never forget your goodwill support to our institution,” he remarked and added that his institution has existed for 57 years and assured that the good relationship with Excel will go a long way.
He highlighted some key challenges faced by the Freetown Cheshire Home, one of which he said is lack of adequate funding to run the institution. Dr Dumbuya said the last subvention they received from government was in September last year. “We are happy that Excel has contributed to meet our monthly feeding cost and we look forward to other institutions to come to our aid,” he noted.
The event was chaired by the former British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Peter Penfold, who thanked Excel School for the great support.
