Chief Minister Commission State-of-the-Art Equipment in Tissor

The inspiration of Kenema residents on the road sector development has been rekindled by First Tricon as Chief Minister, Professor David Francis commissioned a digitized crusher plant in Tissor, on the outskirt of Kenema city.
The brand new State-of-the-Art equipment with a capacity of 250 Tons per hour is the first in the road industry in the country and will provide the required crushed rocks for the rehabilitation of the 7km roads in Kenema city and its surrounding. The event was also witnessed by the Minister of State, South, Deputy Minister of Finance, Mayor of Kenema City and other local government dignitaries, including the Paramount Chief Elect of Nongowa Chiefdom.

Kenema city had been the most deprived city in the road sector in the country and its residents have been yearning, over the years, for a system that will transformed their socio-economic status, especially in the roads infrastructural development. This dream is gradually becoming a reality with the advent of the New Direction. The phase one of the Rehabilitation of Urban and Provincial Township Roads Projects did not make any difference to the people of this city as only Five Kilometers roads were allocated. Cities like Bo and Makeni triumphed in roads infrastructure with Makeni taking the lion share. Even townships like Magburaka, Port Loko, Pujehun and Moyamba surpassed Kenema city with an average of seven Kilometers in each of these towns. The second phase, inadequately funded, saw the Six-Kilometer roads project comprising Blama Road and Hanga Road completely stalled. This was a major cause of concern for the people of Kenema as the state of roads in this city became an eyesore especially in the raining season while other cities and township blossomed with paved roads.

With the advent of the New Direction under the stewardship of His Excellency ( Rtd. Brig) Julius Maada Bio, Kenema city is experiencing a U-Turn in the roads infrastructure. Not only has the government released the required funding for the ongoing works on the two roads but has also identified a third street, Dama Road, to be included on the exisiting works. This is just a “Tip of the Iceberg” and according to the Chief Minister, speaking on behalf of the President of the Republic, other streets over Thirty Kilometers stretch have already been identified within the Kenema municipality and he therefore urged the contractor, First Tricon, to deliver his best on the existing roads for the company to stand a chance in acquiring future road works in the city. In the midst of thunderous applauses, Professor David Francis, reaffirmed the government commitment in transforming Kenema into a modern city and to bring back the status and dignity its residents have lost over the years.

The Chief Executive of First Tricon, Remi Olumuyiwa, expressed his delight in fulfilling what he described as “a mission accomplished’. He described the establishment of the quarry in Kenema as a blessing not only for his company but for the people of Kenema in terms of providing jobs to the youth. He pointed out that the absence of a quarry in Kenema was a major challenge for the company as aggregates for the road works had to be hauled from Bo. This he noted had a considerable impact on the pace of the works. He thanked the people of Kenema for their patient in providing support to his company during its most difficult times and assured them that with the support of the government of the New Direction and the establishment of a quarry in Tissor with a State-of-the-Art Crusher plant, First Tricon is poised to deliver its best.
