Kiss Angel, Kiss Emulate In Kiz World Of Fashion Non Violence Campaign

In order to protect their community from violence, community organizations Kiss Angel and Kiss Emulate have launched the Kiz World of Fashion in Non Violence Campaign at their Upper Tengbeh Town community.
The campaign which official kicked off last Saturday with a football match will be followed by members of the group embarking in a house to house sensitization about fashion in non violence.

Chief Executive Officer of Kiss Angel and Kiss Emulate Jida Kiss said that as 2012 elections is drawing closer there is a need for them to start their non violence campaign for it to be reflected in the minds of their people that violence should not be the order of the day but that they should strive for peace at all time. “Election time is the only time the politicians will come around us and the youth will be their targets. We want to call on them now to tell them that elections should not divide us or cause fighting among us,” he said.
He went on to say that their campaign will start with a fashion in education explaining that fashion in education will tell the community people how they are supposed to be dressed. How some people dress irritates others while others will refrain from violence due to the way they dress.
Simultaneously, the group is also organizing a football gala for twenty teams in Freetown. The gala which kicked off on the 2nd July will end in mid August 2011.
The CEO is also pleading for sponsorship to move their campaign forward.

Kiss Angel Chairlady Admira Koroma said there is a need for the community to brace up for a change. She added that they as women can play a better role to see a fast developing community as they can do it better. “As a group of excellent ladies, we plan to bring quality fashion to our community,”
As the new Chairlady she stressed that there is a difference in Kiss Angel this time round. “We are ready to make a mark in this community and also ready for peace and unity to prevail in the community. We can make it as long there is oneness, we can do it,” she emphasized.

Manager of Kiss Emulate Philip Sahr aka Blacker said Kiss Emulate is the men’s version of kiss Angel. He said they decided to form such organization as a way of helping one another in the Tengbeh Town community and also a way for them to unlocking their potential. “With support from each other and from outside we can develop our talents and our community,” he said.
He went on to say that their aim is to target non school goers while those that are going to school continue their education without dropping out of school and for them to always put on their best manners at all time. Tengbeh Town is one of many communities that are known for violence more especially among the youths. “To set a brighter example we have informed all members to be at home before 8:00 pm and for them to always avoid the things that will bring confrontation at the end or things that will hinder the progress of the organization,” he said.
He said they have plans to extend the numbers of their membership from 13 to 50 or more but hastened to add that they want to make sure that they involve those that will not bring the organization to disrepute. “Kiss Emulate is the group that will move the community forward,” he assured.
