Muslims Mark Prophet Mohammed’s Appointment

Millions of Muslims over the world yesterday marked the appointment of Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace and Blessing be Upon Him) by Allah the creator of the universe as the seal of all prophets in the world.

In Sierra Leone hundreds of Muslims converged at the Islamic Republic of Iran Cultural Centre for a day seminar in observance of the day. Speaker after speaker gave their contributions on the theme ‘The Philosophy of MAB’ATH’ and spoke about the Holy Prophet and the importance of that day.

In his address to the congregation, the Iranian Cultural Consul to Sierra Leone Mohammed Sofla described the teaching of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) as one that is done in stages. He pointed out that Allah sent different prophets because of the nature of human and their growth. “All of the other 11 Prophets came to prepare the ground for the Holy Prophet Mohammed who is the last and the seal of all prophets Almighty Allah sent in the world,” he said.

He further pointed out that each of these 12 prophets came with his own book as proof to the world that indeed they were sent by Allah, adding that all those books are important to mankind. “If everyone eats according to his or need, there will be no shortage of food. That will bring justice but some people eat too much leaving others to suffer. While the poor are dying of hunger some are dying of over eating but that was not the case of the 12 prophets Almighty Allah sent,” he said.

Mr. Sofla went on to say that one of the main aims of the Holy Prophet Mohammed is to established justice for all which he said this generation should do in the society, noting that without justice nothing will be achieved. “The Holy Prophet Mohammed brings knowledge in all areas which we must seek for the betterment of this world and the world after,” he said.

He further stated that there is need for one to achieve in this world and for him to stand a chance in the world after but if one does not achieve in this world it will be very difficult for him to make it in the next world. “You should not always sit to receive but others should receive from you as well. Let us follow the footsteps of the Holy Prophet Mohammed to be rewarded by Almighty Allah in the next world and for the betterment of us in this world,” he advised.

Chief Imam of the Freetown Central Mosque, Sheik Ahmed Tejan Sillah said Almighty Allah sent the Holy Qu’ran to the Holy Prophet Mohammed in twenty seven years as it was revealed in verses.

He went on to say that the appointment of Holy Prophet Mohammed as a prophet is a thing Muslims should always have in mind. He said there is a chance for Allah to appoint anyone to occupy great positions in and out of their country.
The occasion was climaxed with prayers for the Holy Prophet Mohammed and for justice to prevail in the society.
Other speakers included Dr. Sallieu Ibrahim Kamara and Sheik Ahmad Bah, Lecturer of the Islamic College.
