Over Fuel Subsidies… APC LIES BIG TIME

The desperate efforts by the ruling All People Congress Government to increase the price of fuel in the country has exposed the consistent inconsistencies and smooth lies of the Government.
Early this year, when the world market price of oil per barrel reduced drastically from $150 to $26, the price of fuel remained the same in Sierra Leone.

As a result of this, the people started raising concerns but the Government said that the price will not correspond to local price because they have removed subsidies from fuel.
According to the former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Mabinty Daramy, the Government was no longer subsidizing fuel, so the price of fuel will not correspond to the world market.
Also the head of the Petroleum Regulation Authority Dan Mason told Sierra Leone in a Government Press Conference in February that the Government was no longer subsidizing fuel and on that regard there would be no reduction of fuel in the country.
After the government had told Sierra Leoneans that they are no longer subsidizing fuel, they have now changed tongue just because they want to add the price of fuel which according to many people will benefit some politicians in the corridors of power who are also shareholders of some of the oil companies in the country.

The people of Sierra Leone have asked the Government not to increase the price of fuel because it will adversely affect other commodities in the country.
The main opposition Sierra Leone People Party said that the removal of the so called subsides will add untold suffering on the people of Sierra Leone.
Further reports indict that last year alone, Sierra Leoneans contributed up to 80 Billion Leones to Road Maintenance Fund- monies deducted from fuel bought by people as tax.
