Journalist Beware As … SLPP Hooligans Now Target Journalists

O n Saturday 7 th   May 2016 SALONE TIMES Sports reporter Bockarie Allieu visited the Sierra Leone Peoples Party headquarters to see a friend Mohamed Massaquoi who does layout for the party’s newspaper.   SLPP Chairman Unfortunately for Allieu, he was attacked by a lady called Mariama who claimed Allieu was a journalist and was at the party office to spy them and report.   The lady continued to use abusive words on Allieu while the others forced him to go out of the compound. He tried to explain himself to them why he was at the party office but the more they became adamant and the number started to increase shouting we don’t want any journalist here. They took his bag from him search his pocket to see if there was any recorder with him but could not find any. The situation started to get worse as they become uncontrollable with one mind that the office is no go area for journalist as they are all spies.

GENTO SETS ANOTHER DEADLINE FOR JOMO KENYATTA ROAD

A s GENTO GROUP failed to meet the deadline that by the end of April, the Company would have completed the Jomo Kenyatta Road, the Group has given another deadline to complete the tarring of that road. GENTO GROUP earlier stated that they would complete the Jomo Kenyatta/King Harman Road junction by April ending. Giving reasons for not meeting their deadline, GENTO GROUP Director, Mohamed Gento Kamara told the Press that just after they made the declaration to complete the tarring of that road by April ending, the government asked them to construct a foot bridge along New England Ville junction which he said stalled their timetable for two weeks as they need to draw the plan for that foot bridge and also start the construction. He explained that the foot bridge foundation is 16 feet deep. “We started it from the foundation and that reversed us for two weeks,” he said.

LICSSAL Business College Matriculate 300 Students

A bout 300 students were matriculated by LICSSAL Business College. The ceremony which was graced by parents and well-wishers on Friday April 22 nd has been marked as one of best in the history of the college. Students that are pursuing Degree, HND, Diploma and Certificate were in a joyous mood to see themselves in such dress. In her keynote address, guest speaker Mrs Lara Taylor-Pearce Auditor-General, Audit Service Sierra Leone said she was quiet please to be among students. She recalled her Matriculation day at Fourah Bay College. Madam Taylor-Pearce was admonishing students about integrity which she said is the ultimate goal for any successful people. Pointing out that the issue of being truthful and faithful at all-time should always taking in to consideration. She said there are some rules that students should face to the letter.

Wilson JP, CO has ordained four Deacons and eight Priests at a colourful ceremony at the St. Charles Church, Regent Canterbury of West Africa on Sunday 24 th   April 206 . In his address with the theme “Feed my Lambs” John 21:15, Bishop Thomas A.I. Wilson said among other things that they as shepherds must ensure that they do what the Lord has called them to do. As a shepherd, he gave three points which he said should be taken into consideration as they face their people. “In the first place for the shepherd to be effective, he must be able to make the sheep lie in one place. T he Mayor of Makeni City, Sunkari Kabba-Kamara has officially launched the first ever mind changing foundation My Father’s House Foundation (MFHF). In 2007 when President Koroma came to power, he promised Sierra Leone an uninterrupted supply of electricity   but observers say that the electricity supply in the country is very erratic and interrupted especially in the capital Freetown. This, they say has been a perennial problem for the people of   Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone where in every dry season the people experience power cut and shortages across the city . Also they bemoaned the   acute shortage of water in Freetown. The shortage of water in the capital of Freetown has been a very serious problem for the people as every now and then underage children, mostly girls, are seen with jerry cans scouting for water across the capital, especially in the unholy hours of the night This has led to the increase of teenage pregnancy in the capital as late at night vulnerable girls will be out in the street looking for water thereby becoming the prey of area boys.

Moinina Fofana Declared for APC….Says Prosecutor

The lead prosecutor Brenda J. Hollis, in the CDF war convict Moina Fofana matter has told the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone that there are evidences to show that Monia declared for the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party in Makeni. Brenda J Hollis made this statement on Friday 18 th March 2016 at the Commercial fast track court Government Wharf in Freetown she noted that war convict made this declaration during the APC Youth Conference in March in Makeni Northern Sierra Leone. The defending champion of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association {SLCA} Mid-West CC on Saturday registered a vital victory against their arch rivals Police CC at the POW School field with 1 wicket. Mid-West won the toss and allows Police to bat first.  The Mid-West players gave tight fielding to the Police batmen squeezing them to score only 112 runs in 19.1 overs. The Mid-West bowlers gave out 31 extra runs with Bakarr making the highest runs [23] for Police and James Kamanoh with 10 runs.
